No Request Too Unusual: The 'There's Always a Way' Philosophy

By Urban Rush Concierge

Every concierge service has a list of things they do. What separates good concierge services from great ones isn’t the list, it’s what happens when a request doesn’t fit it.

At Urban Rush Concierge, the internal answer to an unusual request has always been: we will figure it out. Not “that’s outside our scope,” not “we don’t normally do that,” but a genuine commitment to finding a path forward. Clients have told us this philosophy is what keeps them coming back - and what prompts them to recommend us to friends and colleagues without hesitation.

Why Standard Menus Don’t Work for Real Life

Real life doesn’t sort itself into neat service categories. The things people need help with don’t arrive in predictable shapes. A client might need something that’s half errand, half research, half logistics coordination; a task that doesn’t fit any single label but absolutely needs to get done.

Rigid service definitions fail here. A team that’s genuinely good at problem-solving doesn’t need them.

What “There’s Always a Way” Looks Like in Practice

It means approaching every request, including the strange ones, with curiosity rather than limitation. It means making phone calls to figure out if something is actually possible before saying it isn’t. It means drawing on local knowledge and established relationships to find the non-obvious path to a solution.

Some of the requests we’ve received over the years defy easy categorization:

  • Tracking down a specific vintage item from a client’s childhood as a surprise gift
  • Coordinating between multiple vendors across the Lower Mainland on a tight timeline
  • Resolving administrative problems that required persistence and creative navigation of local systems
  • Handling deeply personal errands for clients going through difficult life transitions, with the kind of discretion and care those situations deserve

None of these had a template. All of them got done.

The Role of Trust in an Unusual Request

When someone calls with a request they’re not sure is possible, they’re also doing something vulnerable — they’re admitting they need help with something they can’t handle themselves, and they’re trusting you with the details. That trust is something we take seriously.

Good concierge service isn’t transactional. It’s relational. Clients who’ve worked with us for years call not because they’ve checked our service menu, but because they’ve built a relationship with someone they know will try.

If You’re Not Sure Whether to Ask

Ask. The worst answer is “we can’t do that one, but here’s who can.” More often, the answer is “yes, here’s how we’d approach it.” Tell us what you need, we’ll be straight with you about what we can do and how fast.
